PrivateStorage and Erasure Coding
Last Updated 11 months ago

PrivateStorage will automatically encrypt your desired upload locally, encode it into multiple, unique shards of cipher text, then spread those shards out among our servers on the PrivateStorage-Grid. Extra shards are created and saved on multiple servers for data parity. In the event of data loss or corruption, these parity shards can reconstruct the data with minimal performance impact.

Later, when you download the folder through the PrivateStorage application, it will find the required shards, verify their integrity, reassemble them, and decrypt the result back into the original folder.
